What is the Drama Song Ad workflow?

The song VSL — a story ad sung instead of read — as a workflow. Say who the hero is and what they're going through; the run writes the lyrics on the format's arc (a humiliation by the closest person, pain that keeps getting worse, every fix failing, a close and credible mentor bringing the product, a climb other people notice, vindication in the same place as the insult), sings them, finds the second every line is sung, draws the cast and a still per line — and once you approve the preview, animates each shot and cuts it to the song.

Before you start

Have these ready so you don't hit a blocker mid-workflow.

  • A product that fixes something people feel judged for — or none; the story can stand on its own.
  • Creator plan + your own Gemini API key (the lyrics, images and Veo clips render on your key; the song is on us, within a weekly allowance).
  • A clean product photo in your Props library if the product should appear on screen.

How the Drama Song Ad workflow works

Read the marketing goal of each step top to bottom. Expand any step for the exact ppl.studio tools, worked examples, and gotchas.

  1. Step 01~2 min

Pick the hero and their fear

Describe the hero's problem and the fear under it — one specific person, not a demographic — and pick the product, the length, the genre and the look.

Why this matters: Everything downstream is chosen to fit one viewer: the hero's age, who betrays them, where it happens, who the mentor is. A vague hero gives a vague song nobody recognises themselves in.

OutcomeA brief: the hero, the product, the length (about 1, 1½ or 2 minutes), the genre, the look.
How to do it with ppl.studio

The setup asks for the hero's situation, lists your Props for the product, and offers the genres the format runs in — slow enough that every word is heard.

    1. 1.1

Write the fear, not the symptom

"Puffy face and a soft jawline" is the symptom; "he's afraid his wife doesn't find him attractive anymore" is what the song is about. Give both.

    Output: One brief; 9:16 output.

  2. Step 02~~4 min unattended

    Lyrics and the song

The run writes the lyric sheet with a shot under every line, then sings it. Read the lyrics and listen before anything is drawn — a weak story can't be saved by the pictures.

Why this matters: The lyrics carry the whole ad: the humiliation in the first line, the wound getting worse, the mentor before the product, a climb other people see, and a vindication that reverses the opening insult. The song has to be sung clearly enough that every word lands.

OutcomeThe lyric sheet and the finished song, with the second every line starts.
How to do it with ppl.studio

Each line is matched to the moment it's sung — the words come from the lyrics, the timing from listening to the song — so every picture changes on its line.

    1. 2.1

      Check the arc

The betrayal comes from the closest person; the pain is said by other characters, never the hero; the product arrives only from the mentor's hand; the last scene happens where the first one did.

Output: 22–40 lines; one song up to about two minutes.

  3. Step 03~~4 min unattended

    Cast, stills, preview

The run draws the whole cast side by side — the hero before and after included — then a still per line from that sheet, and stops at the preview with what the clips will cost.

Why this matters: One cast sheet keeps every face the same across dozens of shots. The preview is the last free moment: redraw any shot before a single clip is paid for.

OutcomeThe cast sheet and a still per shot, each with its lyric line, and the price of the clips.
How to do it with ppl.studio

A line sung for longer than eight seconds gets two shots — a second angle on the same moment — so nothing freezes on screen.

Output: One cast sheet; 22–48 stills.

    1. Step 04~~15 min unattended

      Clips and the cut

Approve the preview: each shot is animated with Veo, every clip is cut to its exact frames of the song, the lyrics are captioned word by word, and the song is laid under the whole video.

Why this matters: Cutting to whole frames of the song keeps the pictures on the words from the first line to the last — a drift of a fraction of a second per clip would add up over a two-minute song.

OutcomeThe finished MP4 in your Gallery.
How to do it with ppl.studio

The first clip renders alone so you can check it before the rest are paid for. Closing the tab is safe — the worker owns the render.

        Output: One 9:16 MP4 at 1080p.

      How it compares

      Drama Song Ad workflow FAQ

Why a song instead of a voiceover?

A sung story holds attention longer than a read one, and the people still watching after a few minutes are exactly the ones the story was written for. The song is the sales letter; the pitch is only the last lines.

      Does anyone on screen sing?

No. The hero's voice is the song laid under the cut; on screen it plays as a music-video drama, with faces and body language carrying the emotion.

What does it make claims about?

Only what your product's saved facts say. The hero's results are what they felt and what other people noticed — never a cure, a disease or a guaranteed number — and the ad can carry an "AI-generated" badge.

      How long can it be?

About 1, 1½ or 2 minutes — 22 to 40 sung lines. The long-form originals run seven to ten minutes; start short, and lengthen the version that holds attention.
