Put Your AI Character in a Trending Video
Your AI character doing the trend — the dance, the walk, the reaction — deadpan, in their own face, clothes and scene.
What you walk away with

What is the Character in a Trend workflow?
The deadpan-character format — the same recognisable character, unbothered, doing whatever the feed is doing this week — as a workflow. Upload a trend clip (a dance, a walk, a reaction you saved), pick one of your Experts, and pick how they go in. Replace the character: your Expert takes the place of the person in the clip, and its scene, camera and sound stay. Copy the moves: your Expert performs the clip's movement in their own photo's scene — one of their photos, or them in a pose — and the clip's sound is left out so you can add the trending audio where you post. Each step explains what needs to happen, why it matters for reach, and how to do it in the dashboard.

What this preset made
Before you start
- A trend clip — one from the Recast page's Library (viral videos and this week's moves, found and cut for you, the creator's mark taken off), or one you have, uploaded there (MP4, MOV or WebM; a longer file keeps a 30-second window you pick).
- One of your Experts with their full body drawn (their character sheet, on their profile) to replace the person in the clip — or, to copy the moves, a photo of them head to waist or head to toe, or a pose to photograph them in.
- Your own fal.ai key in Settings — the clip is made on it: replacing the character with Wan 2.2 Animate Replace, about $0.08 a second (≈ $2.40 for 30 seconds); copying the moves with Kling Motion Control, about $0.126 a second (≈ $3.78 for 30 seconds).
The Character in a Trend guide
- Step 01~2 min
Pick the trend, the character and how they go in
Pick the clip, the character, and one of two ways in. Replace the character: they take the place of the person in the clip — its scene, camera and sound stay. Copy the moves: they perform the clip's movement in their own scene. The clip should show one person, whole body or waist up, doing the move clearly; to replace them, it should be one shot, with no cuts.
Why this matters: The format works because the character is constant and the trend changes: viewers come back for the same deadpan face doing this week's thing. A clear, single-person clip is what makes the movement read; a crowd or a fast-cut edit gives the model nothing clean to follow — and a cut breaks a replaced character.

Upload the clip on the Recast page (yours stay yours; the Library's are there for everyone), then pick it with the Expert when you set the workflow up.
- 1.1
Upload the clip
On Motions, add a clip you have. Past 30 seconds, slide to the window you want. Its sound stays only when the character is replaced in it.
Tip: Upload only footage you have the right to use — your own take on the trend is safest. You can't paste a link; Trending now has this week's moves ready.
- In-appRecast — Someone else's video with your Expert in it — a viral video, a trending move, or a clip you upload. Yours and the Library's.

Pick the Expert
The character who performs it. Replacing the person in the clip, it's their full body on white — draw it on their profile first; copying the moves, their passport photo holds their face through the movement.
- In-appAI Experts — Persistent AI personas — consistent face, voice, backstory, expertise, wardrobe.
Output: One clip (≤ 30 s window) and one Expert.
- Step 02~~30 s
Pick the still they move in
Replacing the character, there's nothing to pick: their full body goes into the clip as it is, free. Copying the moves, choose the picture the character moves from: it sets their face, their outfit and the scene of the whole clip. A new full-body photo, head to feet and hands free, by default, their newest photo, any of their photos, or them photographed in a pose first.
Why this matters: The clip lends only the movement — everything you see comes from this one still. A still with the character standing, hands free, in a scene that suits the trend is the difference between a believable clip and a glitchy one: whatever they hold in it moves with them.
OutcomeOne 9:16 still of the Expert, hands free. How to do it with ppl.studio
Their own photo is used as it is, free. In a pose, the Expert is photographed in its scene, outfit and framing first — one photo on your Gemini key or a free photo — and it's kept with their photos.

Check the still at the preview
The run stops at the preview with the still beside the clip. Make the still again, or swap in one of your photos, before anything is paid for.
Output: One 9:16 still.
- Step 03~~3–5 min
Approve and let it move
Approve the preview and the character goes in: in place of the person in the clip, its sound laid back under it — or performing the clip's movement in the still's scene, their face held by their passport. The clip is lifted to 1080p and saved.
Why this matters: The clip is the only part that costs, so nothing is spent until you've seen the still and the clip together and the price for its length.
OutcomeA 1080×1920 MP4, up to 30 seconds, in your Gallery. How to do it with ppl.studio
On your own fal.ai key, priced at the preview: Wan 2.2 Animate Replace about $0.08 a second, Kling Motion Control about $0.126. A clip takes a few minutes.

Post it with the trending sound
A clip that copied the moves has no sound on purpose: add the trend's audio in TikTok or Instagram, where it's licensed and current. A replaced character keeps the clip's own.
- ExternalTikTok — Cross-post with your hook in the caption.
- ExternalInstagram Reels — Same 9:16 file, 3–5 hashtags max.
Output: One 9:16 MP4 (1080×1920) — with the clip's sound when the character was replaced, silent when they copied the moves.
How it compares
Character in a Trend workflow FAQ
Does it copy the person in the clip?
No. Replacing the character, your Expert takes their place: the scene, the camera and the sound are the clip's, the person is yours. Copying the moves, only the movement is borrowed: the face, the hair, the clothes and the scene come from your Expert's still and passport. Either way, the person in the clip doesn't appear.
Can I paste a TikTok link?
No — upload a clip you have. Or pick one from Trending now: the moves the world is copying this week, found and cut for you, the creator's mark taken off and the sound to post with linked.
What does it cost?
On your own fal.ai key, priced at the preview before anything is spent: replacing the character is about $0.08 a second (about $2.40 for a 30-second clip), copying the moves about $0.126 (about $3.78). The full body and the Expert's own photos are free; a new photo or one in a pose is one image.
Does it keep the clip's sound?
Replacing the character, yes: the clip's own sound is laid back under it. Copying the moves, no: add the trending audio where you post, so it's the current, licensed version.
