What is the Launch Video workflow?

The launch film a motion studio sells for a few hundred dollars — a calm frame around a loud product, one feature every four seconds, each one shown working — as a workflow. Pick your app (from its App Store listing or your own uploaded screens); the screens are read for what's on them and where each button, total and list sits, a feature is written for each from what your listing actually says, and the film is drawn frame by frame: the camera leaning in on the part about to change, a tap and the next screen, rows revealed, a callout dot on the exact element, a sound on every landing. Each step explains what needs to happen, why it matters, and how to do it in the dashboard.

What this preset made

Launch Video: "A partner that remembers."A real Launch Video run, posted to our own TikTok (@ppl.studio) on 2026-10-13 for Bae, our AI companion app. 18 seconds, made end to end by this workflow.

Before you start

  • Your app in Apps — added from its App Store link (the screens, icon and description come with it) or by hand with 2–4 uploaded screenshots.
  • A ppl.studio account — reading the screens and writing the film are two calls on your Gemini key (a fraction of a cent); the film is drawn on our side and costs nothing.

The Launch Video guide

  1. Step 01~1 min

Pick the app and its screens

Choose the app and 2–4 of its screens, in roughly the order a new user meets them. Each screen becomes one feature of the film.

Why this matters: Rule one of a launch video: show the product, not the logo. Real screens are what make the film believable — and the order of the screens is the order of the story.

    OutcomeAn app and 2–4 screens.
How to do it with ppl.studio

The setup lists your Apps; tick the screens you want. App Store screenshots work as they are — the marketing caption under each one is cropped away automatically.

    1. 1.1

      Choose screens where something happens

A list, a total, a button with a result behind it, a progress streak. A screen that's all text gives the film nothing to point at.

Tip: Colourful screens make a better film than muted ones: the stage around them is calm on purpose, so the product is the loud part.

Output: 2–4 phone or desktop screenshots.

  2. Step 02~~20 s

Get the screens read and the film written

Each screen is read for what it shows and where its elements are — the button, the total, the list. Then the film is written: a hook for the first frame, one numbered feature per screen (a short eyebrow, a two-line headline, one sentence), and what the product does on each screen: a tap, a reveal, a zoom or a callout.

Why this matters: Two things make these films look designed: every scene shows the product doing something, and every claim is true. The writer may only use features your listing or notes actually describe — each one quotes its source, and a feature with no source is dropped before anything is drawn.

OutcomeA hook, 2–4 features, one dark scene and a closing line, each tied to a screen and an element on it.
How to do it with ppl.studio

Two calls on your Gemini key: one reading the screens, one writing the film. The run shows what was written and anything dropped for lack of a source.

    1. 2.1

Check the hook is on the first frame

Feeds show the first frame before anything plays — it's your thumbnail. The hook is drawn there before anything moves.

Output: A hook ≤ 6 words, eyebrows of one word, headline lines ≤ 14 characters, sentences ≤ 80 characters.

  3. Step 03~~1–2 min

Get it drawn in three sizes

The film is drawn frame by frame: the hook, one feature every four seconds on a 120 BPM grid, one dark scene in the second half to reset attention, and a close on the product with one true line. Every tap, landing and reveal gets its own short sound.

Why this matters: Cuts on the beat give the film rhythm even with the sound off; a camera that leans in about a second and never past 1.5× keeps the screen sharp; a label that sits on the exact element for a full second is what makes a viewer understand the feature. The vertical, wide and square versions are laid out again for their frames — caption on top in 9:16, beside the device in 16:9 — never cropped.

OutcomeThree MP4s with sound, and a contact sheet of every shot.
How to do it with ppl.studio

Drawn on our side with no video model — free, about a minute per size. A phone check runs on every shot (text in the safe area, three things on screen at most, labels of four words) and the result says what it flagged.

    1. 3.1

Watch it muted, then with sound

Muted, the captions should carry the story. With sound, every tap and landing should click into place on the beat.

    Output: 1080×1920, 1920×1080 and 1080×1080 MP4s, 30 fps, AAC sound at −16 LUFS.

How it compares

Launch Video workflow FAQ

Does it invent features?

No. Every feature must quote where it came from — your App Store description, the release notes, a screen's caption or your notes — and one with no source is dropped before anything is drawn. Sample data on screen is whatever your screenshots show.

Is it a video model?

No. The film is drawn in code from your real screens, frame by frame, the way a motion designer would build it — so the text is always sharp, the screens are exactly yours, and it costs nothing to render or re-render.

What does it cost?

Two calls on your Gemini key to read the screens and write the film — a fraction of a cent. Drawing the three sizes is free.

Can I use App Store screenshots?

Yes. Their marketing caption is found and cropped away, so the device shows only your app's interface.
