What is Shot list?

A shot list is the itemized inventory of every image or clip a production needs to capture — each entry naming the subject, angle, framing, and purpose — used to make sure a shoot or a generation session ends with complete coverage rather than a folder of near-duplicates and obvious gaps.

Where the storyboard describes the final sequence, the shot list enumerates the raw captures required to build it, including the safety and alternative angles the edit will want but the storyboard does not show. For product content a typical list spans the hero shot, straight-on and three-quarter angles, a scale or in-hand shot, detail and texture close-ups, the product in its use environment, and any packaging or before/after frames. Working from a list is what separates a shoot that returns usable coverage from one that has to be redone: it turns 'get some good photos' into a checklist that can be executed, reviewed, and signed off. It is the practical unit of creative-ops planning — the thing a photographer, a creator, or a generation batch is actually briefed against.

How it relates to AI UGC

A shot list maps directly onto a generation batch in ppl.studio: each line — hero, three-quarter, in-hand, detail, in-scene — becomes a prompt against the same product and persona, so a single session returns the full coverage a listing or ad set needs instead of one angle you then have to reshoot for the others.
