Kindness to animals caught on camera
Also known as: A stranger's small kindness to an animal, caught in one shot
One unbroken phone shot, filmed from the side or from across the street, of someone stopping what they are doing for a small kindness to an animal: runners mid-race reaching over the barrier to pat a dog held up by its owner, a small girl crouching on the steps to stroke a stray cat on her way to school.
Keep the camera on a real moment where someone gives an animal a few seconds of attention it didn't ask for, film it wide enough to show the busy world around them, and cut nothing; let the sound do the talking.
Proven. Went 5× past their usual views for at least 3 creators, or for one creator running it as a series. Slowing: fewer creators posted it in the last two weeks than the two before.
How it's built
The hook: confession. The first line admits something or starts a moment of the creator's own, so the viewer stays to hear the rest.
- 0-1sthe animal is already in frame and someone is reaching for it: the kindness starts at once
- 1-5sone person after another, or one long moment, of the small act, held without a cut
- 5s-endthe person moves on with their day; the sound lands the feeling
Length and pacing
- About 8 s long.
- One unbroken shot, no cuts.
- Sound: voice-music.
- Nobody speaks to the camera: one sound, crowd noise under it.
