What is Imagen 4?
Imagen 4 is Google DeepMind's flagship text-to-image model, the successor to Imagen 3, launched at Google I/O 2025. It is available via the Gemini API, Vertex AI, and inside consumer Google products (Gemini app, ImageFX, Google Slides). Imagen 4 brought meaningful improvements over Imagen 3 in three areas: photorealism (especially for human portraits and product textures), prompt adherence on long, complex prompts (multi-object scenes with explicit composition), and in-image text rendering — historically a weak spot. For e-commerce and AI UGC workflows, Imagen 4 is one of three production-grade options alongside Flux Pro and GPT Image: each has different strengths, and most mature pipelines route prompts to whichever engine performs best for the prompt class. ppl.studio runs a mixed model stack, picking the right engine per scene type rather than locking into one.
