What is Open Knowledge Format (OKF)?

The Open Knowledge Format (OKF) is a structured, schema-oriented alternative to the loosely-specified llms.txt convention: a 'knowledge bundle' that packages a brand's key facts, entities, and their relationships as explicit statements a model can ingest without inference — this brand, these products and attributes, these claims with sources, these policies with effective dates. Where llms.txt is prose-and-links, OKF leans toward machine-readable assertions. It is not an either/or choice against schema markup or llms.txt; the pragmatic 2026 stack is on-page schema (Organization, Product, FAQPage) as the baseline every engine already parses, a curated llms.txt as the index, and optionally an OKF bundle or llms-full.txt as a single clean source of truth for brands whose facts change fast enough to justify maintaining one. The failure mode is treating any agent-readable file as a substitute for clean, chunk-friendly HTML and schema — they are additive, not replacements.
